Offers an opportunity to all club swimmers to compete to gain swim times for all gala events

Swim Events 2016

Leighton Buzzard Swimming Club participates in a number of galas throughout the year. There are different types of galas some of which swimmers are selected by the head coaches to participate in and other in which the swimmer has the option of entering themselves to get personal times for selected strokes and distances.

  • Open Meets are competitions organised by one club and held as a single event over one or two days of a weekend. These are not League galas but offer swimmers an opportunity to log their own times and achievements. They do have qualifying times which swimmers need to achieve before they can compete. Chiltern League Results Round 2

Leighton Buzzard Swimming Club

Swimmers from Leighton Buzzard Swimming Club were active in the pool

again on Saturday contesting the second round of Chiltern League.

The majority of Leighton Buzzards swimmers swam personal best times.

They were Ryan Chappell 2, Daniel Holliday, Sanchia Kirchin 2, Lauren

Feander 2, Ben Oakes 2, Emily Holden, Lucy Chapple, Brayden

Ditchfield-Watkins, Alice Hancox, Louis Hunt, Kayleigh Holroyd, Mia

Davis, Cameron Jones, Phoebe de Voogt, Cian Ditchfield-Watkins, Meghan

Davis, Isobel Kirtley and Xavier Kirchin.

Individual first places were swum by Brayden-Ditchfield-Watkins, Louis

Hunt, Mia Davis, Ben Oakes, Freya Payne and Meghan Davis.

Relay successes abounded. The ladies and mens open medley relay teams

swum by Freya Payne, Kayleigh Holroyd, Lucy Chapple and Isobel Kirtley,

and by Brayden Ditchfield-Watkins, Jamie Pugh, William Abbott and Joe

Grice respectively, won their races. They were followed by winning teams

in both the girls and boys 10 year old special medley relays. The girls

race was swum by Tansey Denman, Imogen Johnstone, Lucy Holt and Madison

Greenacre and the boys by Toby Evans, Alfie Barratt, Phineas Fletcher

and Isaac Bradford.

The eight freestyle relays at the end of the gala made a very exciting

finish to the evening. Of these eight Leighton Buzzard won four. Again

the 10 year old girls and boys were triumphant. The race was swum for

the girls by Imogen Johnstone, Madison Greenacre, Lucy Holt and Phoebe

de Voogt, and for the boys by Isaac Bradford, Toby Evans, Phineas

Fletcher and Cameron Jones. Next came Tansey Denman, Katie Edwins,

Cassiopeia Kirchin and Ceris Wears representing the 12 year old girls,

and the final winning team of the evening was the ladies open team of

Ruby Hancox, Rhea Horne, Bethany Smith and Shona Black.

The mens open team swam a cracking race too, so much so, that they were

too fast for the time band by a whisker.

The next round, the final will take place on the 22nd April.

Gala results: Dunstable 225, Leighton Buzzard 208, Bourne End 172,

Flitwick 162, Bletchley 122 and Letchworth 119.
